The Best Profession
Are you one of those players, and there are alot, that beat
yourself up over what profession to choose? Well I'll make it easy for you. You
ready?
IT DOESN"T MATTER
In the end when you hit 60 you will find yourself not making anything for
yourself but instead selling everything you make for some quick cash. Most
people think it's a great way to make gold but sadly it's not the truth. When
you consider the amount of time it takes to gather all the material to make your
"Black Dragonscale Shoulders" that sells for 115G on average it's just not worth
it.
Now I'll tell you my profession. In the World of Warcraft I am what one would
call a Stock Broker. Another name for this is an AH whore. I like the second one
better. Basically I buy everything that's under market value and sell it for
what it's worth.. or more. For example, the other day I saw a Tigerstrike Mantle
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13108 on the AH for 78s. On
average it sells for 65G. That's a 64G profit. Rinse and repeat and you will
have alot of money really fast.
By now you're telling yourself that "people cant make mistakes that often
right?" Well they do and those that take advantage of it will reap the rewards.
The richest person in WoW has over 100k gold and thats not including all the
items he has in his banks. He is on Boulderfist and lives in Hawaii. How do I
know this? He opened his trade window.. the bastard. Fortunately he taught me
his tricks.
Understand that you cannot do this the second you start playing as you have to
build a bankroll first. The more you have to spend, the more you stand to make.
How does one build a bankroll? Well thats where two professions come in.
Herbalism/Skinning are two of the three gathering professions. Herbalism sells
for more then Mining ore and bars and since you can only track minerals or
herbs, take Skinning as your second profession. Swiftthistle sells between 15
and 18 gold a stack and you can start harvesting it at your third questing area
(i.e. Westfall). Once your gathering gets on a roll you will soon be able to
start making some money. You can also use this addon to keep track of where you
have gathered things in the past:
http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-44-1-gatherer.html
The second step would be to make an alt that stays at an AH so you can mail your
money makers and save time instead of flying back to an AH and checking
auctions.
Now that that's over with you're saying, "well how am I supposed to know what
everything is worth?" And I say to you.. you're not. So how are you supposed to
take advantage of the AH? With this:
http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-...auctioneer.html
Auctioneer is an addon that scans the AH and keeps a record of it on your CPU.
It will show you average costs, tell you what you should sell your items for,
and even show what items are below cost. Know however that you should scan the
AH at least ten times throughout a weeks time to sort out people that are just
posting dumb. There is no way you can lose money with this if you're paying
attention to what you're buying. You don't have to spend more than ten to twenty
minutes a day doing this and after you get used to the big money items you won't
have to use it anymore.
After you make a substantial amount of gold using this system then you can go
into crafting professions so you can make things to sell for big money. Use the
same principle of buying mats way below cost so you dont have to waste time
farming for them.
When you have gold it makes it alot easier to level your toons. Instead of
farming for weapons and armor I just buy it. Saves alot of time for important
things like.. well.. killing stuff and killing stuff is what WoW is about.
Hope this helps all you gold strapped players.
Good Day
