Tips for PvP Newbs
Universal
1: Dont multi queue, you screw your whole faction (COUGH ALLIANCE COUGH COUGH)
When you que for several BGs and your que pops it allows a horde into the game
for the horde side. When you dont go in the alliance ends up out numbered. One
or two people who are afk dosent hurt much but massive amounts of people already
in another battleground does
-Vortigern: "If you do multiqueue, and one of your BG's pops, right click on the
PvP shield icon on your mini map and select leave queue from the other BG's that
you didn't get into. This will allow other players to fill the ranks of the
other BG's you didn't join.
So in the end, you can multiqueue just be courtious about it.
2: Press the M key constantly to get an overview of the battle. I press it
atleast once every 20 seconds if only for an instant before I close it.
For a mini version:
Chalid- "instead of pressing "M" constantly for map you can shift+click on the
Horde/Alliance icon near your minimap."
This will display a smaller version of the map that you can keep up on your HUD
at all times and is useful for seeing where your realmates are in the
battleground.
3: Kill healers first. Ever notice how attacking the meat shields while they are
being healed dosent work well for mobs? why would it work well for you?
AB:
1: Watch the flag at all costs. Dont run too far away from it. Even if you are
having your butt beat use whatever ranged attack you have to stop a flag capper.
Kills dont matter, dying dosent matter. Not losing the flag matters. If there is
a person near a flag and it gets capped he better have been CCd or he sucks.
2: If you dont know crap about pvp do what you are told, not what everyone else
is doing. Theres a retarded pack mentality that lands the entire alliance at the
stables being farmed.
3: Dont run off alone. Press the M key constantly. If you see a place that needs
help, go there BUT do not leave the place you were at defensless. Use the M key
to check this.
WSG:
1: If somone is carying a flag and dying, dosent matter for which faction, click
the heck out of their area as they die. You will learn to predict the flags
location better later.
1: If you find yourself alone in the flag room, might as well go where everyone
else is since you wont be doing much good there.
2: If your team has decided to "hold middle", your not going to do a bit of good
just trying to kill everything you see. You have to be reactive to where your
flag is getting away at or where your flag running is. Your job is not to kill
things, that is what you do while you are NOT handling one of the above
situations.
3: Hiding the flag in a remote location does no good if it is remote from your
team. Have an escape plan. The GY is always a good place to flee to.
AV:
1: Dont cap any flag that will respawn the horde infront of you. Use the M key
to analyze what GYs they have and where they are. In todays fast paced AV games
you want to get to their base and kill their general as fast as possible with a
bit of sabotage to slow them down
2: If you are playing defense, stick with the defense pack. Your job is to slow
them down and do evil things like retake gys that will set them back but NOT put
them infront of our forces.
3: Dont pull a WM. If you needed to know anything in this guide, you shouldn't
be pulling any war masters. Let some other fellow handle it who knows how to.
Its advanced beyond the scope of this guide.
4: If you can heal, do it. I know it sucks but you arent missing much. Killing
npcs isnt that much fun anyway. Isnt that why you are pvping? If you are forced
to do the PVE thing in a PVP game might as well go all the way.
5: Turtling is a slow way to win but there is nothing "wrong" with it. Make sure
you are doing something about your situation though such as turning in things to
summon NPCs and buff your group.
